| dc.description.abstract | Nigeria is undergoing trasition to the third republic under the civilian government. This is after intermittent military intervention in the political arena of the country. The bid to attain a democratically elected type of government in 1992 and beyond calls for transitional programme which gives high consideration to grass root democracy. Elections have been held into different arms of the government — Executive and Legislature at different levels. The transitional programme which has now reached advanced stage called for conducive environment under which parliamentary work could be carried out in the old and newly created states. Some of the existing parliament buildings — Kwara and Ogun States House of Assemblies were designed without consideration in the use of the spaces. Adaptability and modification can not be easily carried out. This thesis attempted to create a design in response to the challenge posed to one of the newly created states.
