Abstract
After many years of post independence, Nigeria has remained industrially and technological backward. Efforts by past and present governments to correct this anomaly has not changed the situation for the better. Many companies both privately and publicly owned including government companies that looked promisingly viable have died prc-matuiely and those still existing are merely struggling to survive. That management problem is one of the strong factors responsible for this ugly situation is widely known and accepted by many. But what has remain uncovered is that particular aspect (functional area) of management that needs to be fine - tuned in order to bring about the desired result. Of recent, much attention has been directed to the Human Resources and Marketing Management of organisations. But not much attention has been paid to the study of working capital management in particular beyond the theoretical knowledge Yet we know very well that one of the problems that threatens the life of any organisation is the Liquidity problem (availability of fund). This study, therefore, is an attempt to examine the Nigerian situation of how our industries have been managed through the management of the working capital using Zaria Pharmaceutical Company as a case study. How it has affected our industrial growth in the past and what lesson(s) we can learn for the future. Great importance has for long been given to the expected return on investment in short and long-term projects and lightly so, but the fact that inadequate planning of working capital requirement can bring an otherwise profitable business to a close halt makes it more important subject to be examined
