Abstract
Mal-administration of justice and the decay of the law enforcement institutions in
Nigeria have resulted into serious moral, social and security decadence in the country.
The inability of the National Government and the judiciary as an arm of government to
seek redress on the impending situation has invariably resulted into a frustrating and
ineffective stance of justice dispensations.
The failure of the judicial system, an ill equipped corrupt police force, and a
decadent prison service which is more like a death trap, has made arrest, trial and
detention a miserably delayed and seemingly endless procedure. This incapacity of the
law triumvirate has not only humiliated and jeopardizes our national integrity, but has
made the crime rate to soar, while human rights are disregarded.
Efficiency has died down due to bankruptcy in the law enforcement institutions.
Decay and judicial anarchy has replaced justice, equity and fair play. Detention without
trial, wrongly executed verdicts, police brutality and prison escape of culprits are
common happen stances nation wide, not to have forgotten the sorry state of our
congested prisons.
This research focuses its attention in identifying these fault within the system of
law dispensation, the flaws in its administration and seek to appropriately justify and
architectural integration of the three arms in the service of law towards effective
dispensation of justice.
The architectural solutions proposed are aimed at providing an enabling law
complex for arrest, trial and detention for an effective functionality. In satisfying such a
social purpose it would be demonstrated that architecture in the service of humanity can
be employed to facilitate law and security system.
