The study focused on the application of Roe's hierarchy of human needs theory to widows need in Kaduna municipality. The main objectives of the study was to find out the extent to which widows met their needs in order to establish a base for counselors to provide counseling services for widows. Three major research questions were posed and answered. In addition, the following null hypotheses were stated and tested at 0.05 level of significance. 1. There is no significant difference between educated and non-educated widows' expression of these needs. 2. There is no significant difference between educated and non-educated widows' on their expressions of how each of these needs are met. 3. There is no significant difference between the widow's career and their expressions on how these needs are met. The sample size for the study was 200 purposive simple random sampling method was used to draw the data. The main instruments used for the data collection were the questionnaire and the interview guide which were both designed by the researcher. Analysis of variance (ANOVA) and T-test statistical techniques was used to analyse the data. Two of the above stated hypotheses that is (2 and 3) were retained and (5) was rejected. The study revealed the following as the major findings: - . The widows needs do not conform to roe's order of hierarchy of human needs. . Widows' order of needs shows that the need for self-actualization and physiological needs have the highest percentages. . The findings also show that the meeting of needs by widows is not based on their career. From these results the following major recommendations were made: - i. The religious leaders and elders of the society can play a very important role in reducing the plight of widows. They can do this by using their forum and the media to educate the communities and the societies at large on the needs of widows. . The counselors should help encourage widows to join the widows' organization which is aimed at bringing widows together. This will also solve the need for belongingness and love. . The counselor can help the widows become self-actualized by giving psychological talks.en_US
