This study was undertaken to compare scaffolding and lecture instructional methods on the performance levels of senior secondary school students in financial accounting in kaduna state. The total population of the study was 1.659 comprising all the senior secondary school students offering financial accounting in kaduna state. The sample size was 120 students drawn from four in-tact classes from four different educational zones of the state. One of the specific objectives was to compare the pre-test and post- test results performance of the students in financial accounting. Four research questions were drawn to guide the study while four null hypotheses were postulated and tested . The research design of the study was based on pretest post-test non-equivalent measure . The methods used for collecting the data of this study were the two teaching methods (scaffolding and lecture) methods in financial accounting test-one (FAT-1) and financial accounting test-two (FAT-11). The test scores from the pre and post test results yielded data for the comparative analysis.. Mean and standard deviations were used as statistical tools to analyze the research questions. Independent t-test was used to test null hypotheses one to four at 0.05 level of significance. One among other findings of this study showed that scaffolding instructional method is better than lecture teaching method in financial accounting in public secondary schools because the students performed significantly better under scaffolding than the lecture method. Scaffolding teaching method among other recommendations should be used in teaching financial accounting to students in public secondary schools in kaduna state.en_US
