Abstract
The introduction of new management
techniques have brought about new ways of allocating
both material and human resources in
organizations, based on standard operation,
procedures and practices on classical operation,
procedures and practices on classical management
theories. These theories are made on a well
co-ordinated assumptions by the well-known
management theories and hence reflect the general
principles they expound. It is important to note
here that, what has been identified as the management
theories are purely based on behaviours
and practices adopted by the top most executives.
In the course of this study, a number of
findings were made. First that there is no one
absolute way or style of achieving management
competence. The style employed dependeded on the
particular management situation and time, each
of which is multivariate in nature. The study
found that all the twenty foreign firms studied
are able to influence, favourably, their subordinates
in becoming more committeed to work, by
creating a conducive atmosphere in their respective
organisations, which took into consideration
the workers perceptions, attitudes, values,
convictions and wishes.
The twenty-one indigenous firms studied
on the other hand, have been facing a heavy
challenges with regards to the former style in
inplementing management techniques. Most of
the indigenous firms studied have not been able
to merge their subordinates' attitude, values,
convictions, and wishes with the prevailing
atmosphere in their organizations, hence
targeted goals remain somewhat unattainable;
in order to attain set goals.
