Abstract
In international relations nations are said to interact due to the fact that
not all countries are equally endowed. Due to the principle of comparative
advantage, it is not in the best interest of individual countries to pursue an
isolationist policy. For this reason, countries in Africa and West Africa in
particular have come to see themselves as members of one family.
Nigeria as a dominant power in West Africa has since its political
independence in 1960 been playing a lot of supportive roles in assistance
towards other West African countries. These roles vary from military,
political, financial/economic. This work is an assessment of Nigeria's
position in the West African sub region
