dc.description.abstractLease financing is one of the functions of merchant banks whose objective is to enhance efficient utilization of capital, other functions provided by mercant banks includes financial advice, merger and acquisition portfolio and investment management. A lease is a contractual agreement by which the lessor (owner) grant rights to the lessee (tenant) for the use of real or personal property (asset) over a specified period of time, less than its (Actual) working life in return for rental payments over the specified period of time,NAL merchant bank plc being a whole sale banker is involved in lease financing, it is of vital importance to evaluate the contribution of the bank to many sectors of the Nigeria economy. The benefits to both the lessors and the lessees, its advantages to other forms of financial services . Financial and operating leases as well as leveraged lease to examine the type of leases: legal aspects of lease finance tax aspectsof lease finance and the accounting aspects of lease finance and the problems encountered when leasing. The contribution of lease financed assets to the total assetsof the bank in percentage and to determine whether lease financed assets has been on the increase or decrease and the reason for such trend developments. And also the contribution of interest income from leases to the bank funds based interest income as opposed to the total interest income comprising bank fund based interest income and non bank interest income earned from commissions and fees for capital market floatation vi Finally the structuring of lease finance request at NAL merchant bank plc including the issues and the conclusion and recommendations of the study to various parties involved in lease finance activities in Nigeria.en_US
