Abstract
In order to reduce operational drudgery and improve timeliness in planting operation, a two-row animal drawn seed planter was developed. The results of field performance test gave an average seed rate of 14.79 kg/ha, field capacity of 0.438 ha/hr, plant to plant spacing of 36.2cm, seed placement depth of 3.95cm, germination count of 7 seedlings/m2, two seeds per hill and power requirement of 0.795 KW. The field capacity for this planter is about twice that of one-row animal drawn planter and eight times that of manual planting method. Other performance parameters are as comparable to these other two methods of planting.
