Abstract
The project is about Discriminate Analysis and prediction of corporate Bankruptcy as it applies to Banking Industry. Essentially it is the use, simultaneously, of several financial ratios to discriminate between bankrupt and non bankrupt firms, and to predict the likelihood of failure of any corporate entity. The focal point is the applicability of this statistical technique to predicting Banking failure in Nigeria. The Bank chosen for this study in UNITED BANK FOR AFRICA (UBA) PLC. The research was conducted using a multiplicity of approaches. Library review was conducted to peruse the relevant books that had so far been written on the subject. The literature review brought to light the working of other researchers from the introduction of multiple Discriminate Analysis to date. Notably, the Osaze's index was used for assessing the likelihood of success or bankruptcy of UBA PLC. Data Analysis of the Bank was conducted in order to discover the degree of applicability of the method in Nigerian Banking industry. Finally the research reveals that U.B.A. PLC is a successful organisation
