dc.description.abstractThe purpose of this study was to draw the attention of the Nigerian Military audience to the variety of roles that the contemporary non-motorised looms and their weaving designs could play in the Military Environmomtt (within the limits of this hand-crafted Textile Technology), The research has tried to explain this technology in some practical approaches, in order that the appreciation of its objectives can be fully understood. The problem of the study was the determination of products and training as the roles of the contemporary non-motorized looms in the services of the Nigerian Army and, how practically these roles could be demonstrated. Significance of the study was based on the need for the Army to utilize for self-reliance the local resources including materials, skills and techniques. The population was made up of selected workshops and institutions which had weaving - training programmes. Weavers, teachers, and administrators in both the Military and civilian sections of the selected population, as well as the literature sources were consulted on this subject during an initial pilot survey.en_US
