T This study was aimed at investigating staff housing obsolescence in Katsina State. The study became imperative due to the fact that many staff houses across the state were observed to have become obsolete. Physical surveys and questionnaires were used to generate data from several establishments in the state as well as current occupants of some staff houses pertaining to the factors identified to have led to the staff housing obsolescence in the state. Presentation of data was done in tabular form with simple percentage and descriptive analysis. Failure of priming actions, environmental hazards, conversion to other uses, physical dilapidation due to old age of buildings and other conditions leading to inhabitability were the factors identified to have contributed to the staff housing obsolescence in the state. Factors having direct bearing on occupants were ranked and analysed using Spearman's Rank Correlation Coefficient. The work revealed that certain number of houses were actually affected by obsolescence. To improve their functionality it has been recommended that failed priming actions should be reassessed for reinvestment where possible or else affected lands and houses should be sold or leased out; housing estates should be sold to the vi occupants to release government of maintenance and management responsibility, other houses which cannot be sold should be revitalized and records on staff houses should be properly kept.en_US
