Abstract
This work was primarily undertaken to find out the applicability of linear programming technique to production scheduling in Nigerian manufacturing industry. The work is divided into five chapters. Chapter one dealt with introducing the subject of complexity in decision making due to the geometrical development in Organisational activities. It also introduced the discipline 'Operations Research' and of its tools - linear programming. The Chapter further highlighted the objectives,, of methodology of research and some perceived limitations of the study. The second chapter dealt with an intensive review of related literature on its application to production scheduling and at the end came up with a hypothesis that guided and gave direction to the study. Chapter three was dedicated to presentation of the data collected and the choice of an appropriate linear programming model to analysed the data . The last two chapters dealt with the analysis of the data, discussion of the results thereto and suggestions thereupon.
