Abstract
The practice of cost control as is obtained on the . medium sized construction sites was compared and weighed against the cost control systems and procedures obtained in management and construction literatures. The differences were highlighted, the similarities upheld and possible areas of adjustments suggested. A subsequent site cost control model was proposed, which is designed to take care of the lapses envisaged by the theories, without necessarily making the procedures too cumbersome for apprehension by the site staff and/or too costly to be maintained by the management
