PREAMBLE: * • - • African c u l t u r a l h e r i t a g e in the f i e l d of a r c h i t e c t u r e is becoming too d i f f i c u l t to conserve e s p e c i a l l y with the a r r i v a l of modern t e c h n o l o g y. C o r p o r a t e b u i l d i n g s in African urban c e n t r e have embraced t o d a y ' s broader AESTHETICS w i t h l i t t l e or no r e g i o n a l e x p r e s s i o n . With the c u r r e n t d r i v e for n a t i o n a l i sm in African c o u n t r i e s , the r o l e of the a r c h i t e c t should be an e x p l o r a t i o n i n t o the r i ch a r c h i t e c t u r a l h i s t o r y of our s o c i e t i e s in the search for r e g i o n a l i d e n t i t y which can be f u r t h e r developed with t o d a y ' s t e c h n o l o g y .
