Abstract
This study was to determine the level of awareness among undergraduate students in Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, Kaduna State and to find out the extent of infringement of copyright laws among them. The researcher used the survey research design to collect data that led to solving the problem at hand. The population of the study was the 30,492 undergraduate students of Ahmadu Bello University Zaria. A total of 379 were sufficient sample according to Krejcie and Morgan table for determining sample size. The study adopted the stratified random sampling procedure to draw from the 12 faculties without bias sufficient respondents. Questionnaire was used as the instrument for data collection. The questionnaire comprised of fifteen questions and divided into six sections. The study employed frequency distribution and simple percentage to analyse the findings of the study. It was discovered that there was a significant level of awareness among the undergraduate students of ABU Zaria. It also discovered that photocopying, plagiarism and copy and paste were the major ways of copyright infringements. The study concludes that copyright infringement is a serious issue with negative consequences on creative imagination of notable Nigerians. Among the recommendations are for stronger legislation, enforcement, awareness and reward for creativity.
