Abstract
In time of affluence both in Europa and the United States of America Academic Research Libraries had embarked upon endless growth and expansion However when in 1973/74 they began to experience lean funding as a result of economic recession, they started to look for more prudent and effective methods for collection management. Collection use study was one of the techniques adopted, Various collection use studies showed that Academic Research Libraries invest huge money on books not used. Kashim Ibrahim Library is one of such Academic Research Libraries. Analysis of data collected direct from books and documents confirmed the claim and showed that the library could have made substantial savings in terms of money if the books not used were not purchased. Librarians could promote more useful researches in Collection Development Management if they will adopt more progressive attitudes toward record keeping.
