Abstract
Modern flying machines are equiped with complex instrumentation and controls, requiring high degree of mastery of use for enhanced safe air navigation. High operating costs and risk to liveequipment have led to the invention of the Flight Simulator, whoso manufacturing fidelity is of such realism that total transitional training may take place in this device. Consequently this high cost machine (minimum about US 28m) demands as much managerial skill as possible in every phase of its cycle, from production to delivery, installation, commissioning and subsequent operations. Installation involves local and foreign labour inputs, use of hired machines and plants. In 1981, the Nigerian Civil AViation Training Centre, Zaria, installed a Fokker 2B Digital Flight Simulator at their Simulator complex in Zaria. representatives of the manufacturers, Messrs Rediffusion Simulation Limited of United Kingdom, were on site with the Nigerian counterparts to carry out the installation. ( All costs vrere borne by MCATC. The technique of Network Analysis is hereby applied to the installation in order to reduce installation time and therefore costs. A PERT Network was produced for the project. The critical paths obtained showed a time saving of 11 days and a cost saving of N40,115.63. Sources of improvements have also been identified
