Abstract
In t h i s study seven dimensions of the organisational climate were used. Such dimensions are structure, responsibility, risk taking behaviour, rewards and recognition, warmth and support, and goal clarity. (Litwin and Stringer 1968). Three leadership behaviour/styles were used: directive, supportive and p a r t i c i p a t i v e and three organisations a manufacturing, an Academic i n s t i t u t i o n and a service organisation. Correlations were found between directive leadership and a l l the climate dimensions except structure and respon s i b i l i t y in Organisation 2. Also correlations were found between supportive leadership and a l l the climate dimensions except for structure in both organisations 1 and 2. While correlations were found between participative leadership and a l l the climate dimensions in only Organisations 1 & 2. However, there were no correlations found between the climate dimensions and the three leadership styles for Organisation
