Abstract
Saki is a town in the northern part of Oyo State and the headquarters of Ifedapo local government area with an approximate area of 4,924 square kilometres and has a population of 253,116, Right now, there are so many recreational activities being pursued by the people in substandard places and they lack co-ordination. Secondly there are no enou facilities where people can go to re« i te. The technological development has also affected tiv recreational life of the people which makes the indegenous forms of recreation to be inadequate. The scope of many recreation centres have been focused on outdoor design and limited to some age groups. This limitations might be due to arbitrary application of standards without taking into consideration the recreational need." of the various communities. It is therefore not surprising to identify sporting activities and landscape areas as major elements of recreation design. This concept of recreation narrows the provision of facilities for recreational use. This thesis design will attempt to bring recreation to Ifedapo local government area with focus on emerging emphasis on recreation olanning (i.e. seeing recreation as a service to mankind) within the context and needs of the community. To this end, a multi-functional recreation centre for all age groups is proposed.
