Abstract
ABSTRACT
The rampant occurrences of disabling conditions
and the nature and extent these disabilities affect
People has become a point of concern in the society.
This is more disturbing when it's realized that
day after day people are becoming more and more
engulfed in this tragic situation as a result of
congenital and physical factors. Yet, the manner
in which society attempts to accommodate the disabled
people is disheartening. This, coupled with lack
of proper medical care and vocational opportunities
has rendered them helpless, dejected and being
looked down upon in the society. To fully reabsorb
them into the mainstream line of life, opportunities
for self-improvement and conducive environment
need to be created.
Rehabilitation can be defined as "a means
Of working to find the best way of satisfying the
most important needs of the disabled person towards
his full integration into the society".
According U.N.0's declaration on Human Rights,
the term "Disabled person" means "any person who
is unable to ensure by himself/herself wholly or
partly, the necessities of a normal person as a
result of defeciency either congenital or not, in
