dc.description.abstract | This dissertation covered the assessment of working capital management in manufacturing companies. A Case Study of Nigerian Tobacco Company Plc, Zaria. Interviews were conducted to obtain the data needed which was complemented with taking a closer look at the records maintained by the company. The essence is to examine to what extent the manufacturing company have been managing its working capital and how it worked in practical terms. It was also geared towards providing suggestions that will be of help to the company in improving the effective and efficient management of their working capital. The components of working capital which comprises of current assets and current liabilities were discussed in detail, and also the role they plays in relieving effective and efficient working capital management in relation to attainment of the basic organizational objectives was highlighted. In addition, the usefulness of the study falls within two arms of management at large and on the other hand to the personnel directly or indirectly involved in the management of working capital. In view of the organization it rationalize their resources to maximized their profitability, setting of debtors and avoidance of overstocking. The firm is faced with some problems which to a great extent effects their ability to effectively manage their working capital, these includes, the general state of the economy (i.e macro economic policies, inflation, and foreign exchange problems). The researcher does his research in Nigerian Tobacco Company, Plc Zaria. Thus the research is based on the current policies imposed relative to the working capital management. As a result, I recommended the adoption of some ways to improve the management of cash, the factors to be considered before granting credits to customers, provision of adequate transportation of stock ad a careful analysis of cost especially the human and mechanical efforts. | en_US |
