Abstract
The success or otherwise of the Marketing of Agricultural Products
depends to a large extent on the performance of the marketing systems.
This research study will therefore evoked much concern about the
efficiency and effectiveness of Agricultural Products marketing systems
in Katsina State with particular reference to some selected Local
Government (Viz, Funtua, Faskari and Dandume).
The study therefore, evaluated the performance of the marketing
systems for food crops in the three Local Government Areas above. An
evaluation of the efficiency of the marketing system as it affects the
producers is examined objectively through studying the producer
marketing activities i.e. his disposal, storage activities, sales outlets and
conditions etc.
Similarly, the efficiencies as a result of poor market information,
absence of standardization, poor transportation and input distribution
facilities are also examined. Furthermore, a correlation analyses on the
farm level prices of food crops among the three Local Government areas
and their villages has been examined.

Finally, in this research we will see the extent to which, Lack of
Access Roads, Storage facilities, Actions of Intermediaries or Middlemen,
Improved dissemination of market information etc have direct impact on the
prices of Agricultural Products not only in the three area of the study but the
entire state in particular and to the nation in general.
