Abstract
Industrialization is a major process for economic
development of any Nation. The present economic
situation has prompted the Federal Government to seek
for ways of diversifying the economy base, hence the
emphasis on industrialization and agricultural
development.
Oil Palm, (Elaeis guineensis) thrives in the
tropics. From Senegal, Nigeria, Serra Leone to Zaire
and wherever the average annual rainfall amounts to
150m distributed over not less than eight months of the
year. An oil palm is best known for its commercial
products; palm oil and palm kernel. This edible oil is
indigenous and is mostly produced using local skills
and resulting in variable quality and quantity.
The research is on proposing a comprehensive oil
palm industry towards effective sanitation in the
processing of this oil. This is to minimize the
enormous amount of wastage and unhygienic processing
methods. The primitive methods are not economically
viable for the country. The proposed industry is to
extract and refine palm oil and palm kernel oil for
domestic use and also with the ultimate goal of
exporting to foreign markets. Its immediate market is
Ankpa.

To carry the citizens along with the agricultural
programs, there should be a ready market and a good one
for that matter, for any agricultural product right
where it is produced or where the potentials for
producing then exist. This will help in stimulating the
production, as well as serve as a dual purpose of
industrial and agricultural developments
