dc.description.abstractABSTRACT. There is no doubt that the financial industry in Nigeria has under gone a turbulent period. One that is characterised by financial distress. The development is partly rooted to frequent changes in government policies and the general changes in the political and economic environment. The development affected a lot of financial institutions, most especially banks as it eroded public confidence. Hence the restoration of public or customer confidence became very crucial to all affected banks whose licences is not withdrawn. It is the intention of this research to discuss ways and manner Nigeria Universal Bank Ltd, one of the affected banks should follow in order to restore customer's confidence. The method of data collection is by way of direct observation and the examining of some internal sources of records and documents. This enables the researcher to discover the internal problems that contributed or led to the financial distress position of the bank. The researcher also identifies areas where the bank needs to make significant changes or improvements in the light of the objectives of the study.en_US
