This study is an investigative and explorative approach to the management of crisis in federal University of Technology Minna from 1992 – 2002. The study was conducted using selected objectives, which include the following. 1. Attempting to investigate the existence or otherwise of communication between management, staff and students. 2. Finding out if delay in action by management has aggravated crisis. 3. Attempting to find out if staff and students have been involved in policy or decisionmaking. Both primary and secondary data were obtained. The various groups on campus provided the primary data. The Secondary data was obtained from files in relevant offices of the University like the security, student affairs and the Registrar’s office. Information was also sourced from union files. Data obtained from both sources were analyzed using simple descriptive statistic (frequency and percentages) summarized in figures and tables. From the results it was clear that issues like under funding of University, disharmony among the University management especially between internal and external Council members, breakdown of, and inadequate collective bargaining between staff and management, insecurity on one hand and lack of dialogue between students and management on the other hand. Other issue like lack of up to date teaching and research facilities, nonimplementation of agreement, University autonomy had caused crisis in the University. To maintain peace and stability on our campuses, staff and students must be screened before appointments and admissions made. It is also recommended that government should increase its funding to the Universities to enable them meet their obligations. It is also recommended that the University management should cultivate the habit of dialogue with both staffs and students. The University should as matter of urgency try to involve students in decision making especially on the issues of welfare. It is also recommended that the ban on student union be lifted with out further delay. The reports of past committees on crisis should be implemented. Finally it is recommended that research be conducted into other issues like primordial factors such as religion and ethnicity. The University should constantly look into its approaches to industrial relations, welfare as well as its communication at all levels.en_US
