dc.description.abstractThe unfolding scenario in the Nigerian Banking Sector highlights once more the cyclical nature of our economy and the fall out of the Structural Adjustment Programme(SAP). The attendant problems of loss of confidence in banking system, loss of employment and above all decrease in the standard of living of people created by amaze management incompetence, high capacity fraud, bad government regulations, inadequate capital base and general economic recession, all indicate the problems in the economy and the banking sector in particular are integrated and complex, and require integrated research approach to provide solution. The study in this respect, explored the causes of bank failure in Nigeria. In the process the relative symptoms of failure, the impact of bank failure on the economy and the strategic measures to deal with bank failure were explored. In addition, bank customers, depositors, employees and other beneficiaries of bcink services are provided with a model of bank "life cycle" and its financial implications. The study further provided a basis for the development of strategies and activities to stem corporate failure, especially in the banking sector, thereby ensuring consistency in growth, profitability and survival, of corporate entitiesen_US
