Abstract
A Music Industry is a controlled Environment used for the Production and Recording of Music. Music is a properly organised sound with a definite tone and a pitch running between a low and high scale, or a noisy sound with no perceptible pitch at a l l. The perceived quality of Music depends on two major factors; an Administrative factor on the one hand and an acoustical one on the other. The producer's and A r t i s t e ' s wish, industry's recording system, and the condition of the Recording Instruments f a l l s under the Administrative factors while the Acoustical factors comprise of the geometry of the room, i t s construction method and materials used, finishes, services incorporated into the buildings, and i t s position on s i t e in relation to other a c t i v i t i e s around i t . It is not on exageration when one says that the quality of music produced in a space depends on the Architectural solution employed on the s i t e as a whole and on the space i t s e l f , this is to say it depends on the acoustical quality of the space. This thesis will delve into the Architectural factors that affect the quality of music, This is to say that I am goin to research into the area of Architectural Acoustics and noise \ control viz - a - viz the buildings used for Recording Music. Creation of ideal Acoustical Environments needed for the recording of Music is an Architectural problem, it is envisaged that t h i s thesis will show us how to solve the biggest problem facing the listening and production of Music
