dc.description.abstractThe primary objective of this research is to examine the effect of financial ratio analysis on credit decision in commercial banks in Nigeria a case study of Lion Bank of Nigeria Plc. This may enable us to provide a framework for further research on financial ratio effect on credit decision; there are other factors that are taking into consideration. But there are cardinal believes that credits should be given to individuals and organization that will be able to pay them back. This study is divided into five main chapters. Chapter one provides an insight to the problems to be studied, objectives of the study, the significance, the purpose, the scope and limitations of the study, and a brief history of Lion Bank. Chapter two deals with related past studies concerning financial ratio analysis in credit decision and the evolutions of banks in the country. This chapter equally showed ratio as the basis for which financial analysis for credit decision can be possibly meaningful. In early days of banking operation financial ratio analyses calculated then are used mainly for credit decision of organization. No serious studies were done concerning its usage and acceptance in the commercial banks. Chapter three showed the methodology employed to bring out our findings. The statistical tools used for the analysis; we adopted questionnaire and interview as methods of data collection for this study.
