dc.description.abstractThis Dissertation entitled: “THE THEORY AND PRACTICE OF CULTURAL CRITICISM: A CASE STUDY OF NAZIRU MUHAMMAD’S POETRY” is an attempt to study some cultural patterns that hide under the cloak of aesthetic of Naziru’s Poetry. Cultural Criticism is considered as one of the most important modern literary Criticism in the field of textual studies, trying to look at the literary text through the historical and Cultural context, by considering it as a cultural incidence which summarizes concepts, behaviors and practices that accompany the creative journey of the text. The importance of the research could be observed from the fact that no any previous research was presented about the poet. However, the theory applied in analyzing the poems has been considered relatively as a new theory in literary analysis. The research methodology consists of descriptive and inductive methods in analyzing the Cultural phenomenon. The research however has given the biography of the poet, as well as the historical background of Cultural Criticism that has been discussed in Chapter three. In Chapter Four the research has analyzed some Cultural patterns and phenomenon that appeared in the selected poems of Nazir Muhammad. In conclusion, the content of the research has been summarized and the research findings show that the poet’s ability to describe his imagination was through his linguistic background that he acquired, which could be seen from the light of using rich vocabularies in the collection of his poetry. In addition to that, some cultural patterns that appeared in his elegy have shown many beliefs what was known in Arab society. Nevertheless, some stylistic features such as Repetition, and Intertextuality and other technical constructions that appeared in Naziru’s poetry could be a subject for another research.en_US
