Abstract
The training of primary school teachers is of utmost importance. However,
little is known about the capacity of the National Teachers’ Institute (NTI) in
the improvement of teachers’ capacity building in the classroom situation.
This study examines the impact of National Teachers’ Institute training
programme on the capacity building of primary school teachers in Zamfara
State. The work takes a look at the problem associated with the quality of
teachers in primary schools, most especially those that have undergone NTI
programmes. The concern of many researchers had always been why the
prevalent problems in spite of quality programmes offered by the institute.
Focus was made on the capacity building of teachers by the Institute. The
Institute’s programmes offered by various centers across the country were
observed. Zamfara State teachers’ capacity building as a case study.
Chapter three deals with the procedure adopted by the researcher in
carrying out the research work and the population covered. Statistical
techniques used in analysing the data are also highlighted
