Abstract
This study analyzed the impact of Social Studies teachers‘ efficacy on content delivery in Junior
Secondary Schools in Kebbi State. Four objectives, research questions and Null-hypotheses each
was formulated. The research design for this study was descriptive survey research method. The
population of the study was six hundred teachers (600) in Upper basic Schools in Kebbi State.
Simple random sample technique was used to select the two hundred and thirty four (234)
teachers of the study as determined by modified Research Advisors Table (2010). The impact of
Social Studies teachers‘ efficacy on content delivery questionnaire (ISSTECDQ) was the
instrument used to collect data. The instrument was validated by supervisors and experts. The
reliability of the instrument was established through a pilot test and Cronbach Alpha was used to
confirm reliability of the instrument to give a reliability index of 0.96, and Mean and Standard
Deviation were used to answer the research questions respectively, while t-test for independent
sample was used to test all null hypotheses at a significant level of 0.05. The result indicated that
hypothesis one was accepted, while hypotheses two, three and four were rejected. The result
indicated that both male and female teachers so not differ in delivering the content of Social
Studies in junior secondary schools in Kebbi State(t=0.749 P=0.455) SocialStudies teachers
differ on the method they use in teaching Social Studies in Junior secondary schools in Kebbi
state (t=120.771 P=0.000) SocialStudies teachers differ on the ways they organize their activities
in teaching Social Studies in Junior Secondary Schools in Kebbi state (t=127.343 P=0.001).
Social Studies teachers differ on how they evaluate their lessons in teaching Social Studies in
Junior secondary schools in Kebbi state (t=127.343 P=0.001).From the analyzed data of the
respondents. It recommended that teachers should use variety of skills such as class
management, reward and punishment etc. While delivering the contents of Social Studies,
Students should also be taught with methods that demand critical thinking and problem solving
ability.
