Abstract
ABSTRACT
This investigation is an attempt to assess the performance of viable Nigerian Banks with
a particular reference to AFRIBANK NIG. PLC and FIRST BANK NIG PLC. The
study revealed that these Banks are liquid and healthy financially. The project gives an
in depth accounts of the financial analysis of their performance over the span of five
years (1993 - 97). Their areas of strengths and weaknesses were highlighted with a
check-list of recommendations on how to improve on the performance so far in order to
remain in the industry and even lead other banks.
