ABSTRACT
TOPIC: Rayfield Resort Hotel Jos: Maximising site Potentials in
Architectural design.
In this thesis 1 have sought to elaborate the high potentials and value of tourism
in the state of Plateau and provision has been made for a well designed resort hotel at
rayfield.
If Nigeria is to partake in the present boom in the tourist industry, the need to
develope and improve tourist facilities and tourist infrastructure in the country is
vital. The Madrid based world Tourism organisation estimates that the tourist industry
will continue to boom well into the next milenium and it's growth is likely to double
by the year 2010. Therefore it is obvious that unprepared countries will fail to tap into
this expanding tourist market.
It is not just enough to build a hotel or to increase the number of guest houses
or airports, the type of hotels and resorts have got to be challenging. America has the
best tourist facilities in the world. Entertainment havens such as the wait Disney
resorts, NASA,and the exiting hotels in Las Vegas, are only but a few facilities that
attract visitors and they also stay for longer periods because of the range of activities.
Hotels and resorts have got to be designed to attract visistors, this means that
their concepts and their themes have got to go beyond the main stream. They have to
become something more challeging in forms functions and even in thier locations. An
average tourist goes to a destination to expierience some thing new", some - thing
unique to that particular location.
Nigeria has tremedous pontentials for a viable tourist industry, from the south
to the North, Nigeria is full of breath - taking sites. Apart from this, the various
