Abstract
The development and growth of small firms is very vital to
any economy, whether developed or developing. It is generally
accepted that small firms play a very vital role int he economic
and industrial development of the nation. Yet the financing of
these firms especially in a developing country like Nigeria has
always been difficult.
In this study, the importance of small scale firms has been
discussed as the provider of inexpensive consumer goods, create
wide range of job opportunities, thirdly it mobilize and utilize local
resources etc.
The financial requirement of the firm have been highlighted
as follows:-
1) the firm require finance to purchase the steel in wagon
loads.
2) Secondly the firm require finance to acquire modern
machineries and technology. Thirdly the financing of power
supply.
The problem of finance in the firm endures in acquiring the
right type of raw materials, inadequate payment of workers salary
etc.
