dc.description.abstractABSTRACT The work examines the existence and various manifestations of innuendo (Habaici) in Hausa wise sayings. It also examines its various roles as a genre in Hausa oral literature. Consequently, it is observed that the Hausa’s use and exchange innuendoes in most parts of their lives that permeates communications, as well as in poetry, prose and drama. The work further elaborate on the relationship between innuendo and its counterparts like proverbs, epithets, etc. A cursory look on its stylistics pattern was also made.en_US
