dc.description.abstract | Birma Agricultural Project Limited is a private Limited Liability Company, vested with the responsibility of making profit. It is possible that the farm has not harvested the profit to the fullest. It is against this background that this study was set to determine the profitability of the farm, to provide an optimum plan for the farm, to determine the effeciencies of the resource use on the farm and to offer recommendations on how best to organise the farm. analytical tools were used for this study, namely; Farm Budgeting analysis, Production function analysis and the Linear Programming technique. The Net Farm Income for the crop and livestock sections were found to be N 22,759.27 and Nl,436,557.50 respectively, giving a total Net Farm Income of Nl,459,316.70 . The return per hectare, man-hour and capital invested under the crop section were N71.35, N1l.34 and NO,03 respectively, and for the livestock section, return per capital invested and man-hour were N3.46 and N715.59 respectively. The comparison between the marginal value productivities and marginal factor costs of resources were carried out. All the input used in the farm were found to be used efficiently. These resoures were found to have contributed to variations in the yield and this was shown by high value of R2 . The optimum farm plan derived for the farm from the use of linear programming shows that the net farm income of the farm is N7, 399, 958.40. The lesult of the sensivity analysis showed that there could be an increase in the net farm income if five extra units of the scarce resources are used. The growing of pastures for livestock section have been recommended for this study. The construction of storage facilites to bring about improved prices of the farm produce has been suggested | en_US |
