Abstract
The purpose of the study was to compare the performances of the different Sports Associations of Sokoto State on their functions as stated in the edict of the Sokoto State's Sports Council. To achieve this purpose, a questionnaire consisting of seven sections on the different responsibilities of the Sports Accociations, was prepared and administered on the organising Secretaries of the respective Sports Associations. The organising Secretaries filled in the questionnaire by using the: official records that provided the necessary information for the different statements in the questionnaire. The information thus collected was statistically analysed to compare the performances of the different Sports Associations. The results of the study indicated insignificant difference between Sports Associations in the performance cf administrative and promotional functions of Sports. However, significant differences were found between Sports Associations in the organisational, developmental, co-ordinational, controlling, and achievemental functions of Sports. Handball, Football, Athletics and Badminton were found as the best in the performance of the different functions of Sports, whereas LawnTennis, Volleyball, Veightlifting and V'restiing Associations were found as the least in the performance of the functions of Sports.
