dc.description.abstractThis study which is titled "Budgetary Goals and their attainment in Public Sector undertakings: As study of Kaduna State Agricultural Development Project (KADP)" appraises budgeting and budgetary systems at KADP. This work is an attempt in the right direction of gaining an insight into the concept of Budgetary goals and their attainment in non-profit oriented organizations. The need to assess how budgetary goals are set and attained in an organization is as fundamental as the study of the organization itself. It is as a result of this that financial statements were gathered from two directions - those that were incorporated fcr profit motive with a view to maximizing shareholders' wealth and those that were established not for profit making but rather, to fulfil some social responsibilities to the society as in the case of KADP. The study is divided into five chapters wnich are not mutually exclusive. They study found out that though there is adequate planning and budget procedure in KADP, budgetary control system is inadequate in the sense that they system has failed in its implementation. Recommendations are therefore made to ensure not only adequate budget implementation, but also to provide for adequate fvnd and its utilization. It must be stressed that the problems involved in budgeting and goal attainment are not peculiar to Kaduna Agricultural Development project alone but to all non - profit making organizations in the country.en_US
