Abstract
The present economic circumstance prevailing in the country has made the role of development Financial Institutions to be relevant in the socio economic growth of this nation. Regrettably government establishments/parastatals have not lived up to expectation towards achieving realistic economic growth and development that could enhance the living standard of the people. This is because government parastatals are more often than not badly managed and this leads to inefficiency and non-realization of their stated goals and objectives. Consequently, government felt the need to integrate some of its parastatals into the organised private sector for the purpose of achieving realistic economic growth and development. Based on this, government decided to establish regional/states owned development Financial Institutions.
