Abstract
Conference involves people in meetings and activities that require interaction and interpersonal relations, It also emphasises group meetings at a single place where common ideas and experiences could be shared. Gongola State, widely known for its Scenic beauty and rich culture has been a host to a number of local and national gatherings. Yet the State has no group of buildings capable of functioning as an organic whole not only to cater for large scale gathering but to also take advantage of such centre in the all-sphere development of state. The government is delighted in expanding and providing facilities of modern and international standard to attract investors all over the world. This has been demonstrated by the Governor's several appeals to investors to invest in the State. This work attempts to trace the development of the congress industry in Nigeria with particular reference to the state and a proposal for a Conference Centre made. Gongola functions as a major administrative, cultural, commercial and a large tourist attractions abound.
