An hospital is an intergral part of a Social and medical Organization, the function of which is to provide for the population, complete health care both curative and preventive and whose out-patient services reach out to the farmily and its home environment. The modern concept of a hospital is not only for the treatment of the sick but a comprehensive system of preventive and curative medicine and also devoted to ambulatory and domicilliary causes. General hospitals like other hospitals are devoted solely to the prevention and cure of all diseases except those that are not within their scope and which therefore need services of bigger hospitals. Aims and Objectives. To design an hospital of 200 beds that meets the needs of the population of the immediate vicinity and can be expanded to meet future needs. To have various units working in conjunction to accelerate the services needed. To ensure smooth movement flow pattarns of patients in the Out-Patient Department; also instead (viii) of multiplying the number of consulting rooms, they could be designed in such way that two doctors can work in one consulting room. Emergency areas should be able to accomodate increased and varied medical problems and most probably minor surgery. snerally the design of the Out-Patient Department won't deviate totally from the conventional design but useful chances would be made but from the functional and aesthetic point of view. As a contribution to architecture, the design thesis is concerned with natural lighting and adequate ventilation to reduce infection; also tne provision of landscaped courtyards to provide visual comfort and homelessness to the patients. It is hoped that this architectura1 design through the analysis carried out, and suitable solutions achieved would make it a worthwhile exerciseen_US
