dc.description.abstractThis study was carried out to investigate Peace and Conflict Management in the home, implications for Home Economics Curriculum development. The objectives of the study were to; 1. identify the causes of conflicts in the home and the role played by socioeconomic factors in those causes within the family; 2. identify possible differences in the causes of conflict among urban and rural families; 3. examine the impact of communication on the management of conflict in the home; 4. explore the conflict management strategies employed in the home to enhance peace; 5. develop a module on peace and conflict management that could be integrated into the existing curriculum of Home Economics for Junior Secondary Schools. The Survey design was adopted for the collection of data using quota sampling technique. The sample size consisted of 240 Junior Secondary School Students and 240 Parents. Descriptive Statistic of frequency distribution and percentages as well as ttest and Pearson product moment correlation were used for data analysis. The findings revealed that there was no significant relationship between causes of conflicts in the home and socio-economic factors. Results further indicated that there was significant difference between causes of conflict in the home, among urban and rural families. In addition, results indicated a significant relationship between communication and strategies employed in conflict management and peace enhancement in the home. In view of the findings some recommendations were proffered among which is the inclusion of peace education in the Junior Secondary School, Home Economics Curriculum, to this effect, a module was designed for the inclusion of peace Education into the Junior Secondary School Home Economics Curriculum.en_US
