Abstract
ABSTRACT This is intended to give a brief, comprehensive summary of the context of the thesis. Chapter one is the introduction which lead us to what Culture is all about in general and the brief history of Nok Culture. It further on to treat the relief, drainage, geology of the Nok sites in Nigeria while the need to preserve Nok Culture finalized the chapter. Chapter two on the other hand, examines Museums in general, literature review and case studies of National Museum of western Art, Tokyo, Gallery of Modern Art Turin, National Museum Lagos, National Museum Jos, National Museum Kaduna, and Esie Museum in Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara state. Chapter three briefly treats tourism. It examines what tourism is all about, tourism potentials in states affected by Nok Culture. This chapter also gives the relationship between Museums and Tourism in Nigeria. The chapter concluded by treating transport and accommodation for tourists. Chapter four examines the problems existing in Museum design. These problems include, security against theft, fire and damage. The chapter also treats ventilation, climatic condition control and conservation, circulation, layout of display area and display elements. xii Chapter five examines Ham Architecture and the existing infrastructures for reason of design concept adaptation. Chapter six examines the proposed site for this project. It also discussed the factors affecting the choice of the site, the advantages and disadvantages involve, analysis of the site and the site concept. The. final chapter (that is chapter seven) gives the summary of the whole design from the early stage to the final stage. •
