dc.description.abstractDevelopment Banks are charged with the responsibility of increasing and accelerating the rate of industrialisation through financing medium and long-term industries in private sector. The study reveals through a case study of Nigerian Industrial Development Bank (N.I.D.B.) - that Development Banks (DBs) could be effective agent of industrialisation in Nigeria if the funding is backed by effective promotional services. In addition to these, efforts should be added to channelling financial and human resources to those projects which can be expected to have maximum impact on the acceleration of industrial growth. If attention is given to this aspect, foreign exchange of the country will increase through procurement of raw materials, the number of jobs created, tax flow accruing to government from the operations of these ventures and the linkage effects, both forward and backward.en_US
