Abstract
This study was undertaken to ascertain the responsibility and statutory performance of the Agricultural Research Library, Institute for Agricultural Research, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Nigeria. The study noted inconsistent budgetary allocation which affected processing, generation, maintenance and collection development of library. The study examined the effect of the budgetary allocation on (i) performance based on the organizational structure and the disbursement of funds for the generation and dissemination of information, (ii) the acquisition and collection development and, (iii) determine the effect of depleting information resources on agricultural development within the north-west ecologies of Nigeria. The result of the study revealed that for effective maintenance, generation, preservation and conservation of information resources necessary for the advancement of agriculture in the north western ecologies of Nigeria, there must be adequate and consistent funding.
