This research study is on "The Role of Personnel Management in Industrial Development: The Case of Peugeot Assembly of Nigeria, Kaduna:! # It analyses the hypotheses of the study, which are: (a) That efficient labour management relations gives rise to high labour productivity which is a necessary though not sufficient condition, for industrial growth and development, (b) That a high rate of monetary reward or payment alone constitutes enough motivation or incentive to the worker to offer his optimum productivity. The study has also sought to examine whether or not there is positive effect on Nigeria's rate of technological development resulting from any peculiarities of the Nigerian worker*s attitude to work, which has often been subjectively and unfavorably referred to in some quarters as lazy and unpatriotic The result of the study has positively proved the hypothesis that efficient labour management relations gives rise to high labour productivity© The experience of the study however, negatively contests the second hypothesis and it may be relevant to state that a percentage rise in pay does not necessarily give rise to a corresponding rise in productivity0 The rise in productivity was found to be related to other variables including socio-economic and psychological incentives provided by the industry to the workers at a particular period in time* It has also been revealed that the Nigerian worker has no abnormal lab our attitudinal peculiarities which cannot be regulated by modern personnel management techniques, However, the study has identified that faulty educational planning and the misplacement of development priorities have contributed towards the retardation of Nigeria4s rate of technological development The study has, as a matter of interest, attempted to examine and relate to the reality and relevance of technology transfer as a means of technological development which has been the vulnerable approach by successive Nigerian governments* The concept of technology transfer has been revealed by the study to be cosmetic and not a real approach to technological or industrial development contrary to the notion held in certain quarters that technology transfer constitutes a lucrative development strategy.en_US
