dc.description.abstract | The primary purpose of this study was to examine the degree of the Effect of the employment of wives on specific areas of the husband's traditional role as well as his personal life. Some research questions and hypotheses were tested. Survey research method was adopted and questionnaire was used as an instrument for collecting data. The sample size consist of three hundred and twenty six respondents (employed wives and employed husbands working in formal sectors were used as paired couples) whose age ranges between 15 and 34 Years with about eight percent of them above 34 Years of age. They were randomly selected from eight local government areas of Kwara State. The raw data obtained from the questionnaire were converted into frequencies for analytical purposes. Percentages, Pearson product moment correlation and chisquare were used for data analysis. The Findings were that I. The inadequacy of the husband's performance of his traditional role significantly motivated the wife to seek for paid employment; ii. A significant relationship existed between the type of work status of a wife and the husband's participation in the household tasks; iii. Wife's employment was found to have significant influence on the husband performance of his traditional roles in the house; | en_US |
