Inhibitive and adsorption properties of penicillin G for the corrosion of mild steel was investigated using gasometric and thermometric methods. Penicillin G is found to inhibit the corrosion of mild steel in H2SO4. Inhibition efficiencies of penicillin G increased as the concentration of penicillin G increases but decreased with increase in temperature. Penicillin G is found to act as an adsorption inhibitor for the corrosion of mild steel. The adsorption of the inhibitor on the surface of mild steel was found to be exothermic, spontaneous and followed the mechanism of physical adsorption. Also Langmuir adsorption isotherm was found to be the best isotherm that described the adsorption characteristics of the inhibitor.en_US
