dc.description.abstract | Fertilizer is an important element of nation’s determination to reinvigorate agricultural development for viable and sustainable economic development of the nation. The importance of fertilizer is seen in the role it plays in revamping the already deteriorated land fertility in the country, which is seriously undermine food production in Nigeria. Its contribution therefore to the general economic development of the nation cannot be over emphasised. The purpose of this study is to assess the problems and prospects of Manufacturing Industries in Nigeria: a case of the only Superphosphate Fertilizer Plant in Nigeria. The population used in this research were staff, distributor and end users of FSFC’s products – fertilizer. It should be borne in mind that any scarcity of the product will have unquantifiable negative consequences in the agricultural sector and the nation’s economy as a whole. It was in the light of this that the study examined some of the major constraints of the fertilizer plant in the country as well as stressing the importance and prospects of improving its productivity for the common good of the country. Unfortunately, the study proved that the aggregate national demands of the product far outstripped company’s production and even operates below its initial operational capacity. These shortcomings were certainly due to problems Problems and Prospects of Manufacturing Industries in Nigeria associated with a myriad of problems, with funding leading the pack. The study then recommended options to be taken in order to meet the current national demand. It also looked at the marketing concept in use by the company to boost their sales. Finally, measures need to address the problems of the company were highlighted in the work. | en_US |
